Home buyers want to know if a potential property is a sound investment both inside and out, so it’s a fair question to ask whether or not the exterior is covered by a home inspection.

When a home inspector comes to do an exterior inspection these are the following areas they will be inspecting:

  1. Looking at exterior portions of a representative sampling of doors and windows, to make sure there are no major leaks or cracks in the framing or under the door
  2. Wall cladding, veneers, flashing, trim, eaves, soffits and fascias will be inspected
  3. Outside of the home, decks, patios, balconies, stairways, columns, pathways, guardrails and handrails
  4. Cracks in the cement and water damage

In conclusion, getting your exterior of your home inspected is just as important as any other part of the home when getting a thorough inspection.
